The British Indoor Athletics Championships will take place next year (2021), despite the coronavirus pandemic.

UK Athletics’ chief executive Joanna Coates confirmed the UK Sport Business Continuity Fund had awarded an extra $512,000.

The championships will be part of the European Indoor Championships trials. The Euros are scheduled to take place in Torun, Poland March 5 to 7.

Two Diamond League meets were cancelled this year in Great Britain.

Coates said, “They will definitely take place.”

SHOESTRINGS: Laura Muir is one of the top-10 shortlisted athletes who are up for the World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year award. Voting can take place online, citizen voting is weighted at 25% of the overall value.

The list will be halved in votes cast among the World Athletics Council (50 percent), World Athletics family (25 percent) and by fans (25 percent). The 25 percent by fans could be swayed greatly by nations whose population is embracing social media. You can vote by liking individual athlete’s images on the World Athletics’ Facebook and Instagram or by retweets.
