The road and track & field schedule in Canada looks busy for spring and summer of 2023. Domestically, there is plenty of competition to add to any international racing that takes place in the US as well as in Europe with the Diamond League. This is a World Athletics Championships year with the big event hosted by Budapest, Hungary August 19-27.

And, there are other international events like the World Mountain & Trail Championships in Innsbruck.

At the elite end of the running community, qualifying and or being in peak condition for the World Championships and then taking advantage of the fitness shortly after is what will motivate athletes to train well and race hard this year.

Below is a selection of Athletics Canada labelled races, which means that there is doping control, a certain level of prize money available and an elite field is recruited to grow the front end of the competition.

Additionally, there are “Championship Series” meets as well as some significant road and track meets worth mentioning.
