The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has suspended Kenyan athlete Diana Chepkorir for use of a prohibited substance or method.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said Chepkorir had been flagged through her Athlete Biological Passport.

Chepkorir had a red-flag moment when she finished the 2025 Facsa Castellón 10K in the time of 29:56. The 23-year-old had yet to perform anywhere near that level over other distances.

She attempted to make it as a 3000m steeplechaser; however, she could only conjure up a modest time of 10:20.90, which is her personal best.

Currently, Kenya is under the microscope. The World Anti-Doping Agency recently announced that the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya is not compliant and could face suspension in early October. This could happen shortly after the World Athletics Championships taking place in Tokyo.

Chepkorir’s suspension comes just days after her sponsor, adidas, announced support for additional drug testing for Kenyan marathon runner Sabastian Sawe. He is willing to put his name out there to prove he is a clean athlete.

Recently, several Kenyan athletes have been suspended for drug use, including marathon world record holder Ruth Chepngetich.

There have been approximately 400 Kenyans who have been suspended since 2016 for Athletics Biological issues, tampering, doping, and whereabouts failures.
