Tadesse Kassa from Ethiopia and Kenyan Mercy Chebwogen won the 2026 Copenhagen Marathon on Sunday, May 10.

Kassa clocked in a 2:08:26 performance to break the tape four seconds in front of Kenyan Vincent Mutai. Taking third was Dejene Weyfen from Ethiopia in 2:09:14.

The first non-African across the finish line was Spain’s Abdenasser Oukhelfen Ben Haddou who placed eighth in 2:12:13.

For the 21-year-old Kassa, the performance represents a new personal best. Coming into the race, his best was 2:09:32 which was run in Dubai back in February.

Chebwogen clocked in at 2:22:08 for the win, she bettered Tigist Gashaw of Bahrain by 59 seconds and Fantu Shugi ended up in third position in 2:24:38.

Chebwogen ran her marathon debut in Copenhagen, it was her first ever race win. The 30-year-old entered the race with a 1:06:32 half-marathon personal best from Paris in March.

The first non-African across the line was Lili Anna Vindics-Toth clocking a 2:27:28 and placing seventh. Copenhagen is a new PB for Vindics-Toth, who last October in Paris set her then best of 2:28:15.
