After a very successful European Team Championships at Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, Poland, won by Italy, European Athletics announced the first-ever European Running Championships. They will take place in Brussels-Leuven from April 12 to 13 2025.

The championships will include road events which will feature three races over two days: 10K, a half-marathon and the European Marathon Championships.

The races will be available for mass public entry.

“The European Running Championships symbolises my vision of a sport that really is for everyone,” said European Athletics President Dobromir Karamarinov.

“It gives everyone in our sport the chance to experience that unique championships feeling.

“Welcome to the European Running Championships,” said European Athletics chief executive Christian Milz.
