Great Britain’s Jemma Reekie and Laura Muir secured wins during the 2024 Stockholm Diamond League meet on Sunday.

Jemma Reekie clocked a 1:57.79 performance in Stockholm to win the 800-metre event in commanding fashion over Kenyan Vivian Chebet Kiprotich and Eveliina Määttänen of Finland.

Kiprotich recorded a 1:58.64 finish time, while Määttänen just snuck under two minutes with a new lifetime best of 1:59.59.

Reekie is coming off a 1:57.45 run at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, OR, where she finished third behind fellow Brit Keely Hodgkinson and Kenyan Mary Moraa. Hodgkinson set the world lead for 2024 in the race.

Reekie has run two top-10 world-leading times this season.

Muir’s 1500m win

Laura Muir is rounding into form this Olympic season having run well under four minutes in the metric mile in Stockholm. She finished in the time of 3:57.99, well in front of Kenyan Edinah Jebitok. Taking third was Georgia Griffith of Australia in the time of 3:59.17.

The Tokyo Olympic silver medallist owns a personal best of 3:54.50, set during those 2021 Games. The 31-year-old is also a World Championships bronze medallist from the 2022 Eugene, OR edition.
