For athletes or coaches wanting to register for the Harry Jerome Indoor Classic, there are just a few days remaining to register. Currently, there are nearly 300 athletes ready to toe the line in the Richmond Oval. Organizers are expecting up to 500. The event returns after a three-year Covid hiatus.

Regan Yee who is from Hazelton, BC, competed for Trinity Western University and then internationally for Canada, just ran the world lead in the indoor mile with her 4:30.46 win in Iowa at the Hawkeye Pro Classic on January 21.

Yee is a 3000-metre steeplechase specialist and will continue in that event when the outdoor season begins. She held the national record briefly in 2021 at 9:27.54.

Much is still up in the air for the season, as she is in the selection pool for World Cross Country Relay and the 10K event, so the 27-year-old is waiting to see if she indeed gets selected for one of those. According to the organizers of the Jerome indoor meet, they anticipate that she may be competing in Richmond. The World Cross Country Championships take place in Bathurst, Australia Feb. 17 to Feb. 19.

Top Canadian lists below were compiled by the Harry Jerome Indoor Classic organizers.

Harry Jerome is an opportunity for Canadians to run domestically in a competitive environment during the indoor season. In late spring or early summer, the Harry Jerome Track Classic at Swangard Stadium provides a domestic outdoor opportunity. For the summer of 2023, Athletics Canada has arranged a national track league which includes the Harry Jerome Track Classic.
