Kenya’s Emmanuel Naibei won the Lagos City Marathon in the time of 2:11:37.

Ethiopians Deresa Geleta and Demiso Gudeta finished second and third, respectively.

Naibei collected $30,000 US, while Geleta and Gudeta went earned $20,000 and $15,000, respectively.

The 40-year-old owns a personal best of 2:08:27, which he ran in Dec. 2019 in Guangzhou, China.

Meseret Dinke who won in 2019, won again. Last year she was defeated by Kenyan Sharon Cherop who set a new course record of 2:31:40. Dinke clocked a 2:32:16 on Saturday, which when ratified will be a 30-second personal best.

Three-hundred elite runners participated in Saturday’s race due to strict COVID-19 protocol restrictions.
