Olympic bronze medallist Noah Lyles, the star of the show at the season’s opening Diamond League meet in Doha, Qatar, Friday night.
Lyles took the victory in the men’s 200m in a highly anticipated race, with Lyles facing Olympic champion Andre de Grasse of Canada.
On a windy, evening in at the site of the 2019 World Athletics Championships, Lyles had a great confidence booster for his season this year that will lead to the World Championships in Eugene this summer.
Lyles ran 19.72. The 24-year-old’s best is 19.50 from three years ago in Switzerland. The 27-year-old de Grasse took fourth in a virtual tie with Jereem Richards going 20.15. De Grasse has run as fast as 19.62 where he won Olympic gold.
