Olympic and World Championship silver medallist, Koki Ikeda, has been banned by the Disciplinary and Appeals Tribunal for four years in an Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) case.

His blood values showed abnormalities consistent with doping.

The 26-year-old Japanese racewalker has been provisionally suspended since November 1, 2024, and the time served has been credited to his ban. His results between June 20, 2023 and November 1 2024 have been disqualified.

The suspension is appealable to the Court of Arbitration of Sport.

Ikeda is a two-time Olympian. He competed in both the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. He is also a two-time World Championships competitor which included the 2019 Doha and 2021 Eugene meets.

His personal best over 20kms is 1:16:51.

Athlete Biological Passport

According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, “The fundamental principle of the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) is to monitor selected biological variables over time that indirectly reveal the effects of doping, rather than attempting to detect the doping substance or method itself.”

The ABP is a digital record of previous blood tests.
