American 100m hurdles champion Brianna McNeal is provisionally suspended for a doping violation. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced the charge on Thursday.
The 29-year-old won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games as well as the 2013 Moscow World Athletics Championships. She has been charged with tampering.
McNeal led the US sweep of the 100m hurdles podium in Rio, however, was banned for a year when she missed three out-of-competition drug tests within a 12-month period. Missing three tests in that time constitutes an anti-doping rule violation.
The Miami, FLA native owns personal bests of 12.26 in the 100-metre hurdles, 100m sprint, 22.94 in the 200, and 7.39 in the 60m.
