The Athletics Illustrated Person of the Week honours for the week of
October 19, 2020, goes to Ugandan runner, Jacob Kiplimo. Kiplimo won the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships in Gdynia, Poland.
Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo stunned a deep field to win gold in a new championship record time of 58:49. The win didn’t come easy though.
There was an exciting change of leads during the final two kilometres between Kenya’s Kibiwott Kandie and Kiplimo before the 19-year-old took the lead for good.

The Athletics Illustrated Person of the Week recognition is an endeavor that aims to recognise noteworthy or newsworthy achievements, actions, or events in the sport of athletics by individuals who are involved or have affected the sport in some way.
