The 2022 Harriers Pioneer 8K was run on Sunday, February 27, after a six-week postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic, snow on the course, and a lack of facilities.
Tristan Woodfine from Ontario won the race in the time of 23:10, setting a new course record and the third-fastest time in the event’s 43-year history.
Peter Butler and Carey Nelson ran faster on a different course in 23:09 and 22:58 respectively.
Two-time Olympian Gen Lalonde won the race in the time of 25:58, which is the second-fastest time on the course behind only Natasha Wodak, with her 25:55 2019 performance. On the previous course, she set the national best which still stands at 25:28 in 2013.
Lalonde specialises in the 3000m steeplechase and is a two-time Olympian and national record holder.
