Sheila Chelangat dominated a competitive field at the 2021 Kenyan National Cross Country Championships. The defending champion demonstrated strong fitness in the 10K race in Ngong, Kenya.

Chelangat sat in the field of leaders with three others including Daisy Cherotich, Ruth Chepng’etich, and Agnes Chebet.

During the final lap, it was down to leader Chelangat and Cherotich. The two would battle hard, but Chelanat took the win in the time of 34:55.

Cherotich took second in 35:00 and Chepng’etich clocked 35:02.

The 22-year-old Chelangat is known for being a dominant junior and U20 runner, especially in the 3000m steeplechase event. However, in September, she ran a 5000m best in a solid 14:40.51.
