Jamaican sprint star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished her long and incredible 2021 sprint season with an impressive performance.
The 34-year-old known as the Pocket Rocket and Tokyo silver medallist clocked a 10.78 result at the Gala Dei Castelli meet in Switzerland on Tuesday.
This was Fraser-Pryce’s 13th consecutive 100m sprint under 11.00 seconds, her most in a single season. Her next best campaign, happened in 2019 when she recorded 11 straight performances sub-11 seconds.
Swiss runner, Mujinga Kambundji, finished second in the time of 10.99. Ajla Del Ponti also Swiss, clocked an 11.11 finish time for third.
She is an eight-time Olympic medallist and nine-time World Championships medallist. Her personal best in the 100m is 10.60 from the Lausanne Diamond League meet that took place on Aug. 26. She has been challenged and inspired by teammates Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jackson who, between the three of them have swept several meets in 2021.
