Coach Stephen Francis told the media on Tuesday that Jamaica’s 200-metre world champion Shericka Jackson is out of the 100m sprint due to injury.

Jackson, the Olympic favourite to medal in the event, will not make the sprint double at the Paris Olympic Games.

Jackson withdrew from the 100m event due to an injury. She suffered during a recent race at the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix earlier this month.

Jackson’s manager Ludlow Watts has confirmed the news saying that Jamaica has already named her replacement.

“She has given up her place in the 100 metres. All the information that we can provide is that she is not going to participate in the 100 metres,” Watts, told Reuters.

Sashalee Forbes will take Jackson’s place in the blocks. She has a 10.96 personal best from last summer. Forbes helped Jamaica earn a team 4 x 100m silver medal twice. One at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships.
