The Canada Run Series’ Eastside 10K took place in Vancouver on Sunday, with Thomas Broatch and Lauren McNeill winning in a time of 30:06 and 32:48, respectively.

Women’s race

British runner Lauren McNeil, representing the University of British Columbia Okanagan, took first place with a commanding time of 32:48. The performance added to her previous victories this summer at both the Vancouver Half 5K and the Edmonton Half Marathon. Vancouver’s Dayna Pidhoresky took second in a time of 34:27. She is preparing for the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Brooke Lawlor followed in at 35:12.

McNeil from Buxton in Derbyshire represented the UK at the 2024 World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade. The 25-year-old holds a 10K best of 33:45 and a half-marathon best of 1:10:10 from the Berlin Half Marathon in 2024.

Pidhoresky is originally from Tecumseh, Ontario will race the Toronto Marathon which is also part of the Canada Run Series. The race typically acts as a qualifier for global championships, where the top Canadians can make Team Canada. Pidhoresky was first Canadian during the 2019 edition, which got her to the start line of the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games in Sapporo, Japan. Toronto is the site of her personal best which is 2:29:03.

Lawlor is a nursing student at the UBCA with McNeil. She is from nearby Vernon, BC also in the Okanagan region.

Men’s race

In the men’s race, defending 2023 champion Thomas Broatch of Vancouver returned to the winner’s podium with an impressive time of 30:06. Despite his intense training schedule ahead of the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, he was able to run well on the rolling course.

Rounding out the podium were Moktar Said, who clocked a 30:23 finish for second and Nageso Nyafaro in 30:41, both joining the event from Calgary, Alberta. 

Broatch has run the 10K distance as fast as 28:56, which he accomplished during the Ottawa 10K in 2025 as part of the Ottawa race weekend. His marathon best is 2:10:35, which he will be looking to improve in Toronto, which takes place on October 19.

For the 24-year-old Said, 30:23 represents a new personal best time by 21 seconds. Nyafaro also ran a new best during the Eastside 10K.
