The 10K National Championships is part of the Tamarack Ottawa race weekend, which includes the flagship marathon and half-marathon on Sunday, and the Saturday 10K, 5K and 2K for the kids. Over 37,500 people will lace up on the 25th and 26th.
Course records
The 10k records are 27:23 by Ethiopian Deribe Merga from the 2009 running. Kenyan Gladys Cherono clocked a 30:56 back in 2015.
Ethiopia’s Andualem Shiferaw set the current Ottawa marathon record in 2022 clocking 2:06:03. The women’s record is 2:27:17 by Ethiopian Gelete Burka from 2018.
The Ottawa 10K attracts one of the world’s best fields of pro runners as well as thousands of participants from across the National Capital Region and is the venue for the 2024 Canadian 10K Championships.
The star-studded field won’t have time to take in the sights while competing for the elusive title of Canadian Champion.
