Twenty-five-year-old Lydia Cheptarus Cheruiyot, a Kenyan long-distance runner, has been banned by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for doping. It was announced over social media on November 19 that she had tested positive for triamcinolone acetonide.
On September 28, she provided a urine sample in competition at the Wecasablanca International Challenge held in Morocco.
On October 31, Cheruiyot admitted fault and therefore had the length of the ban shortened. She also waived her rights to an appeal, which was available through the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The road runner holds personal bests of 31:11 in the 10 km from 2023 and 15:48.4h (hand-timed) in the 5km from 2025. Her 10 km PB is the 539th fastest road performance in history.
Triamcinolone acetonide is a corticosteroid that typically comes in a cream for treating skin conditions.
