Canada has had various iterations of tours, series and leagues over the years. Some years there has been no formal series, but standalone events, which are flagship track and field meets.
The long-standing meets include the Harry Jerome Track Classic in Greater Vancouver and the Victoria Track Classic. As well as the Edmonton Invitational and “Inferno” in Guelph, Ontario. The meet is now known as the Royal City Inferno Track and Field Festival.
Many of Canada’s better middle and long-distance athletes take in meets in the US mostly in Oregon and California. For the top athletes like Marco Aarop (800M) and Gabriela DeBues Stafford (1500m), Ethan Katzberg, Camryn Rogers (Hammer), Andre de Grasse (sprints) and Alysha Newman (Pole vault) Europe often offers the best competition in the Golden Spikes Tour and Wanda Diamond League.
A national tour within Canada may keep athletes competing domestically.
