Stephanie Bruce won the Great Cow Harbor 10K Saturday in the time of 31:52 to break the course record.
It was her second USATF 10K title and her fifth attempt.
Bruce took home $10,000.Â
Her best was 32:32 from NY in 2019. The 38-year-old has run as fast as 31:24.47 on the track, for the distance. The mother of two had her family at the race and they greeted her at the finish.
In the men’s race, Abbabiya Simbassa won in the time of 28:12. Simbassa’s performance is also a new course record, a new personal best and he too took home $10,000 for his efforts.
Simbassa is having quite the breakout period as he has set 11 new personal bests over the previous 18 months. From 1500m to the 25K distance. His best is likely in the half marathon distance from Houston this year with his 1:01:03 clocking.
