Kenyan Sebastian Sawe won the race in the time of 58:05. The 29-year-old set a new personal best time. He previous bests were close at 58:29 and 58:58 in Manama, Bahrain and Valencia, Spain, respectively.
Taking second place was current world record holder Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda in 58:09 and in third was Kenyan Lasoi Isaia in 58:10.
In 2018, Sifan Hassan broke the European half marathon record (65:15) in her debut in the Copenhagen Half Marathon. Then, she had not raced a distance over 5k.

The first non-African or athlete not of African descent was Hugo Hay of France in the 18th position in 1:01:43.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway, the multi-global medallist over 1500m to the 5000m event, was coming off his Brussels Diamond League 1500m championship from Friday. He finished 34th in the time of 1:03:13. It was his debut over the distance. Ingebrigtsen Ran to 10K in under 28 minutes, then stopped. He joined the second chase pack and stopped again to catch his breath. He later declared that he will not be doing that again for two years. Perhaps foreshadows a marathon attempt.
Kenyan Margaret Chelimo won the women’s race in the time of 1:05:11. Taking second was Judy Kemboi in 1:05:43 and third was Catharine Reline Amanagole in 1:06:09, for a Kenyan podium sweep.
It was a personal best performance for all three. Thirteen women ran sub-1:10. The first non-African was Karoline Grøvdal of Norway clocking a 1:06:55 performance. It was a PB for the 34-year-old, taking a minute off of her København performance from last year in Sept. where she ran 1:07:34.
