Up to eight athletes were allegedly disqualified during the Thailand National Championships in the 10,000-metre event due to illegal shoes over the weekend. Apparently, only four athletes managed to finish the race and count in the results officially.

World Athletics’ spike rule came into effect on November 1, 2024. Track spikes’ maximum stack height can only be 20 millimetres.

Protests were filed, at the Chanthaburi National Games men’s 10,000m race after preliminary results indicated that athlete Anucha Pada crossed the finish line first in a time of 32.01. Ex Warut Suwannachip finished in second clocking 32.56, and Anuchit Pada took third 33:00.

The protests were over the shoes that some athletes wore during the race. First and third-place finishers Anuchit and Anucha were the targets of the protestations. In the end, officials disqualified several athletes.

Kieran Tuntivate holds the national record in the event, 27:17.14, from the 2021 running of The Ten Meet in San Juan Capistrano, US.
