Eilish McColgan won her third Vitality 10,000 in four years on Sunday. The 34-year-old Dundee Hawkhill Harriers club member clocked in at 30:35 with arms raised and a big smile.

“I am absolutely buzzing with today. I think that was only 10 seconds off my best on this course from three years ago, so it is nice to know you can still come back from injury and illness and compete at this level. To match Jo Pavey, who is one of my heroes in this sport, is really special,” said McColgan.

Taking second place was Jessica Warner-Judd in a time of 31:14. Alex Bell finished third in 31:31. These are three of the five fastest times in the UK in 2025.

McColgan will be taking part in the New York City Marathon on November 2. Her personal best is 2:24:25 from London in April, which was her debut over the iconic distance. Based on her British records of 30:09 on the track and 30:19 on the roads, and 1:05:43 in the half-marathon, she should be able to run sub-2:20, but New York is hilly. She may have to wait for London 2026 for that level of performance.

McColgan ties with Jo Pavey, who won three times in 2011, 2015, and 2017. She won in 2022 (30:26), 2023 (31:36) and 2025.

McColgan is the British record holder for 10 km with her 2022 run of 30:19 in Manchester. She holds four other national records in the 5000m (14:28), 10,000m (30:00.86, track), half-marathon (1:05:43) and 5 km on the road at 14:45. Additionally, she also holds the European best-known time (not official record) of 50:43 for the road 10 miles.
