Who will win?

Who Will Win? There are plenty of accomplished cross-country racers lining up to compete for a Canadian championship. Jean-Simon Desgagnés is looking to continue a 2024 season that saw him defend his national title in the men’s 3,000-metre steeplechase at the Canadian Track & Field Trials, earning his first trip to the Olympics. 2023 silver medallist Philippe Morneau-Cartier and 2022 champion Connor Black will look to push Desgagnés in the men’s 10km race. Leslie Sexton and Rachel Hannah, fresh off second and third-place finishes at the Canadian Marathon Championships in October, are some of the big names competing in the women’s 10km. Get the full registration list for every event here.

The Canadian championship event takes place switching between the east and west every two years. 2024 is the final year that London, Ontario hosts the event. Next up is the west and the word on the pitch is that Vancouver Island may have at least two bids forthcoming to host in 2026 and 2027.
