Twenty-four-year-old French runner, Étienne Daguinos, won the Urban Trail de Lille on Saturday, November 16, which is a 10-kilometre road race. To his surprise, he also set a new European record with his finish time of time of 27 minutes and 4 seconds. The performance betters the previous record of 27:07, a record set in Lille, France earlier in the year by fellow Frenchman Jimmy Gressier.

Meshak Lelgut finished in second place with a performance of 27:16. Charles Rotich took third, clocking 27:18. Thirteen men finished under 28 minutes. Eleven of the top 15 are from Africa.

For Lelgut and Rotich, the performances are new lifetime personal bests.

On October 27, Daguinos ran the Valencia Half Marathon in a time of 59:46 to set a new personal best. His 5000m best is 13:19.77. Surely, he will be ready by spring of 2025 to run sub-27 and sub-13 over the two distances, respectively. In October 2023, Daguinos represented France in the 5km World Road Running Championships, where he acquitted himself well finishing in sixth place.
