The 24-year-old Olympic champion is one of the best all-time distance runners in history. She has won every race she has competed in. Chebet also holds the 10,000 metre world record clocking 28:54.14 at Hayward Field this year in May during the Diamond League.
At the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Chebet earned gold in both the 5000m and 10,000m events. She is the third all-time to double gold in the two distance events during an Olympic Games.
Chebet’s breakout race was when she was destined to finish second during the 2023 Bathurst World Cross Country Championships. Over the final 200m leader, Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey was leading, she collapsed and Chebet took over for the win. Since then she has not lost.
She is a World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year nominee for 2024.
