The Kenyan Tokyo Olympic Trials happening June 17 to June 19 have been moved from the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, to Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani. Kasarani is located approximately 10 kilometres outside of Nairobi.

Athletics Kenya (AK) announced via press release that the changes are needed to test systems and requirements in readiness for the World Athletics Under-20 Championships which are planned for Aug. 17 to Aug. 22.

Additionally, Kip Keino is still under renovation.

“After much deliberation and analysis of the current state of events, MISC seems an appropriate venue for the championships,” read the statement.

“Athletics Kenya would like to apologise to stakeholders for any inconvenience caused by this change and ask the requisite athletes to make prior arrangements to attend the event.”

Kip Keino is a multi-use stadium in Eldoret, Kenya, it has a seating capacity of 10,000, however, has fallen into a state of disrepair.

In 2007, the Kenyan government allocated Ksh 100 million for the upgrade of the stadium.

The stadium hosted the 2016 Athletics Kenya Olympic Trials.
