Kenyan-turned-Turkish athlete, Aras Kaya, born Amos Kibitok has been banned for three years by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for testing positive for erythropoietin (EPO).

Kaya is a four-time European Cross Country Championships gold medallist.

The 28-year-old Olympian admitted to using EPO at a 10K road race in Romania in September.

Kaya received a one-year reduction because he “returned a signed admission” on the day he was notified of the test result. Otherwise, he would have been banned for four years.

His suspension began on December 4. All results starting on September 25, 2022, have been annulled.
