The 28-year-old Kipyegon, a double Olympic 1500m champion, unleashed her winning strike to claim yet another global title, stopping the clock in 3:52.96
Thrilled, she said of her victory at Hayward Field, “I am happy to take the world 1500m title here in Eugene. This morning I asked my daughter Alyn if I should bring chocolates or gold for her. She told me to bring home the gold, I am proud I can give it to her.”
This is a fourth successive World Championship 1500m medal for Kipyegon. Besides her gold medal successes in 2017 and 2022, she also claimed silver medals at the 2015 and 2019 editions.
