Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake is once again on the comeback trail. The former world champion is coming off a rough and frustrating 2024 season.
Blake finished eighth at the London Diamond League. For a man used to winning or at least medalling, that performance was not good enough.
This performance came after finding out that he did not qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, jettisoned during the preliminaries.

The 34-year-old veteran posted on social media, “The journey continues. Focused, determined, and back where I belong. Stay tuned for what’s next. With God, all things are possible.”
Twelve years ago in 2012 he ran his lifetime personal best of 9.69 seconds in the 100-metre sprint. It has been 13 years since he ran his 200m best of 19.26. Both during the Diamond League in Lausanne and Brussels, respectively. Blake owns four Olympic medals, two are gold and two are bronze. He is a two-time World champion and two-time Diamond League champion.
Perhaps he is channelling American Tyson Gay who ran 9.69 seconds and continued competing for another decade. Gay, however, did fail at least one doping test back in 2013.
Blake opened a restaurant this year.
