Julien Alfred got her 2026 season off to a flying start by winning the sprint double at the Texas Invitational. She first won the 200 metre dash in 21.86 seconds on Thursday.
The Olympic champion was the class of sprints, finishing well ahead of American Elise Cooper (22.67) and Jamaica’s Carleta Bernard (22.86). Her 21.86 improved on the world lead of 21.89 set by Gabrielle Thomas, which was run at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi last week.

She then won the 100m on Day 2, Friday, clocking a wind-legal 10.93-second sprint to secure another commanding win and the fifth-fastest time in the world this season. Bernard with the University of Texas, finishing second in 11.34, while Abigail Wolfe placed third in 11.42.
Alfred is the first Olympic gold medallist from St. Lucia. During the Paris Olympic Games, she earned silver in the 200m and gold in the 100m sprints.
