There will be an Olympic qualification event for the marathon in New Delhi on Sunday, March 7.

The New Delhi National Marathon is recognised by the Athletics Federation of India as the official Indian trials.

The Olympic standards are 2:11:30 and 2:29:30 for the men and women, respectively. Last year’s winners finished in the times of 2:23:29 and 2:50:37.

“The performance of athletes in this marathon will be considered for selection in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games provided they achieve the qualifying standard as fixed by World Athletics,” read a release by the organisers.

There is also a virtual event available starting March 7 and closing March 12 which also includes the half marathon distance.

Organisers NEB Sports also put on the Bengaluru marathon, IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon, IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon and NIDJAM. The Bengaluru 10K Challenge is their flagship 10K event.
