The Vancouver Island Race Series commences with an event that offers the opportunity to score a lifetime personal best in the rarely run 12K distance. The course is nearly flat with few corners and for travallers from Greater Vancouver, Cedar takes place close to the Nanaimo ferry terminal.
Its the third race in the series taking place on Sunday, Feb 9 at 11:00 am.
The race starts and finishes on Gould Road near Cedar Intermediate Secondary School, Nanaimo. The event is hosted by one of the island’s largest running clubs, the Bastion Run Club.
Runners can register online until 6:00 pm, Friday Feb. 7 at www.islandseries.org or on
race day.
“The Bastion Run Club is pleased to welcome runners back to the Cedar 12K,” said Jim
Rutherford, Race Director. “For the second consecutive year the race is being held on
our flatter out and back course that follows Quennell Road, with lake views and scenic
countryside.”
“We are once again also pleased to be offering a short Kids Fun Run for children of
registered participants. The kids run is free of charge and will take place between the
end of the Cedar 12K and the start of the Awards Ceremony,” Rutherford added.
Following the Cedar 12K the fourth event in the series will be the Hatley Castle 8K on Feb. 23, Port Alberni Paper Chase 15K on March 8, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 22, TriStars Sooke 10K on April 5 and the Synergy Health Management Bazan Bay 5K and Series Awards on April 19.
