On Thursday, December 7, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced that it has provisionally suspended double U20 World Championships bronze medallist Prisca Chesang of Uganda. As it turns out, Chesang tested positive for the prohibited diuretic furosemide.
The 20-year-old athlete has been issued a notice.

Chesang owns a 5000 me of 15:05.39, which she ran at age 18. During the 2023 track season, she ran at least three new personal bests, including the 3000m in 8:48.85, the mile in 4:45.42, and a 10K road performance of 32:34.
Furosemide is a diuretic that increases urine production. The drug eliminates excess water and salt from the body. Furosemide may serve as a masking agent for PEDs, which leave the body quicker.
