The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced Tuesday that Kenya’s Joyline Chepngeno, winner of the 2025 UTMB Mont Blanc OCC race and Sierre-Zinal, has been suspended for doping. She tested positive for triamcinolone acetonide, a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation and act as a painkiller. The drug is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) list of banned products.

Chepngeno’s positive test result was from an in-competition doping test following her victory at Sierre-Zinal on August 9. Her sample was analyzed at the WADA-accredited laboratory in Cologne, Germany.

Just one day before the result was confirmed. Chepngeno had become the first Kenyan to win the 50 km race at UTMB. Both titles will now be removed from her record. China’s Miao Yao is upgraded to first, and Kenya’s Caroline Kimutai will be recognized as the Sierre-Zinal winner.
