A warning system in wearable technology is featured at the 2020 London Marathon to detect social distancing failures.
The product is made by British company Tharsus and is called a Personal Motion System.
The so-called Bump device works off of a radio frequency (RF) to indicate to wearers when they are too close to another person. At London approximately 600 people, 100 elite runners as well as the organizing committee and volunteers will be wearing the Bump apparatus.
Race Director Hugh Brasher, said, “This weekend’s event is the culmination of months of planning around how to deliver a socially distanced 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon that is safe for all participants and stakeholders.”
