American ultramarathon runner Camille Herron has announced that she is suing the company that owns Canadian Running Magazine, Gripped Publishing Inc. She is claiming defamation. “
“I’ve filed a defamation lawsuit in Pima County Superior Court, Arizona, against Gripped Publishing Inc., publisher of Canadian Running Magazine (Case No. C20256592). The complaint was filed on September 22, 2025,” she published on her personal blog.
The full complaint is part of the public record and can be accessed through the Arizona eAccess Portal (account setup required, $10 per document): https://eaccess.azcourts.gov.
It was Canadian Running Magazine’s Marley Dickinson who first broke the story.

The 43-year-old Norman, Oklahoma native and her partner, Connor Holt, have allegedly been caught manipulating Wikipedia information about Herron and fellow ultramarathon runner Kilian Jornet of Spain, among others.
The fallout from Herrongate came to a head in September 2024, when the chat forum at Let’s Run lit up regarding contributions and changes to Wikipedia pages, alleging that the couple were improving her appearance and performances and downgrading others.
Many other publications wrote articles explaining the apparent manipulations, including the New York Post.
Herron makes it known that she lives with attention deficit disorder, is also neurodivergent and autistic.

There’s terminology, Tall Poppy Syndrome, where somebody who stands out, esp. a woman, people resent that. They want to cut down the Tall Poppy to be at the same level as others. A mental health pro told me to keep being a Tall Poppy.

Herron is noted as a world-class ultramarathon runner. Currently, the 42-year-old holds several national and world bests over 24 hours, and other multi-day race events. She won the Comrades Marathon in 2017. The legendary 85.9-kilometre race changes direction each year between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Winning Comrades is one of the major ultramarathon events on the global calendar.
Herron has been ever-present on social media. She claims that she was recently diagnosed with autism at age 42. In an April 2024 X post, she spoke out about “tall poppy syndrome,” where people are envious of others who stand out, especially women.
