Cameron Levins and Sheila Reid made their first steps to the London Olympics on Friday at the Mount SAC Relays in Walnut ,California. Cameron took the closest step by racking up the A+ standard by winning the 5000m in sparkling 13:18.47 just over Jeff Schiebler’s Canadian record of 13:16.98. The Black Creek, BC runner took the bronze medal at the recent NCAA indoor 3000m for his University of Southern Utah track team. He also won the Canadian and NACAC Cross Country Championships this season.
Sheila Reid won won the NCAA titles at 1500m and 500om for Villanova in 2011. Friday, the Toronto, Ontario runner got the Olympic B standard with 15:23.64. She just missed the A Standard of 15:20.00, but has 10 more weeks to virtually guarantee her spot on the Canadian Olympic Team.
