Dutch athlete known for her prowess in the 400 metres and 400 metres hurdles, debuted in the 800 metres indoor race on Sunday, clocking an impressive 1:59.07. The result is a Dutch national indoors record. The outdoor record is 1:55.54, set by Ellen van Langen in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain.
The race was held at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlélor Crédit Mutuel in France.
Apparently, Bol requested the pacer to go out at 57 seconds for the first 400m. She clocked in a 56.66, and her third 200m split was over 32 secs. Bol slowed a little in the latter stages of the race, but the result is a terrific professional debut after years of sprinting for the 25-year-old, who will turn 26 on February 23.
Her personal best in the event was 2:19.51, set in 2017 when she was just 16 years old.
The World Indoor Championships entry standard is 2:00.90.
