Her time improved the previous NCAA indoor record of 49.48, set by Britton Wilson in 2023. She is now the second-fastest in the world. Femke Bol of the Netherlands holds the world record at 49.17 seconds.
This performance was a terrific foreshadowing for her upcoming outdoor season.
Georgia athletes Aaliyah Butler and Dejanea Oakley finished in second and third place, clocking 49.97 and 51.14, respectively.
