Norway’s prodigal son in athletics, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, destroyed the world indoor mile record in Liévin, France with 3:45.14 running.
The record took place at the Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais meet on Thursday night—it was stunning in its audacity.

Ingebrigtsen wrecked the previous time of 3:46.63, set only the previous Sunday. It was American Yared Nuguse at the Millrose Games. Ingebrigtsen lowered the mark by a stunning 1.49 seconds. The reigning Olympic champion attacked from the gun leading the entire race with great authority. The crowd lost its mind.
Ingebrigtsen’s 1500m split of 3:29.63 shattered his own world indoor record of 3:30.60, set at the same meeting in 2022.
This accomplishment adds another milestone to the 23-year-old’s career stacked full of world records, and global championships.
For this week, he is the greatest middle-distance athlete of all time.
