Ottawa – Athletics Canada announced today the addition of John Lofranco to its team in the position of Road Running Coordinator. This new position serves to strengthen the relationship between Athletics Canada and the road running community, a key driver of the Athletics in Canada strategic plan.

“The new role is an important step in Athletics Canada being more involved with the road running community. With John’s experience and passion, he is well suited to our vision,” said Rob Guy, Chief Executive Officer.

John will play an integral role in supporting Athletics Canada’s efforts to connect with the road running community. Specifically, he will lead the organization of Athletics Canada’s first annual National Race Directors Summit taking place in conjunction with the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in October 2014.

John will also provide support to hosts of Athletics Canada road race Championships and will work with member branches, stakeholders, road race partners and race directors to develop programs and services that contribute a positive experience for all event participants.

“The atmosphere at Athletics Canada is very positive and energetic. I am excited at the opportunity to work with the team, and of course, all the top notch people across the country who make road running happen: race organizers, sponsors, retailers and, of course, the runners!”
