Kenyans Titus Kipyego and Vivian Kiplagat won the Milan City Marathon on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Kipyego, ran a new personal best with his two-hour, five-minute, and five-second performance for the win. Fellow Kenyan Daniel Kibet took second in the time of 2:05:20. Tanzanian, Alphonse Felix Simbu, finished third in 2:06:20.

For Kipruto, his only previous marathon was a 2:05:22 finish during the 2021 Rotterdam Marathon where he finished fourth.
Kiplagat, age 30, won in a new personal best time of 2:20.17 just shy of the course record which is 2:19.35 set in 2021 by Hiwot Gebrekidan of Ethiopia.
Ethiopians Sintayehu Tilahun Getahun and Atalel Dargie finished second and third in 2:22:19 and 2:22:21, respectively.

Manchester Marathon
The Manchester Marathon was an opportunity for domestic athletes to attempt to qualify for the Commonwealth Games this summer in Birmingham. For the men, sub-2:14:00 is the benchmark. For the women, it would be 2:34:00.
Six men ran under the benchmark. Winning the race was Jonny Mellor who broke the tape at 2:10:46. Ross Millington (2:11:38), Kevin Seaward (2:11:54), Dean Williamson (2:12:55), Ed Goddard (2:13:45), and Andrew Heyes (2:13:53) followed suit. Twenty-two men finish under 2:20:00.
Beck Briggs won the women’s race in the time of 2:29:06, while three more women managed to slip under the 2:34:00 Commonwealth Games qualifying time. Naomi Mitchell (2:30:54), Georgina Schwiening (2:31:37), Sonia Samuels (2:32:32), and Chloe Richardson (2:33:26). Samuels was the first 40-plus masters age athlete.

Over 24,000 people took in the Manchester Marathon on Sunday.
“The elite field was the strongest to date, as the Therme Manchester Marathon played host to the Commonwealth Games qualifiers, European Athletics Championship trials, and the European 50K Championship qualifiers. With over 150 elite athletes signed up to compete for the coveted ‘top 3’ finisher positions, the best of British athletes were welcomed to the course.”
Tommy Hughes, age 62, probably had the run of the day with an unofficial new world record at 2:30:05. The Irish athletes has been on a tear over the past few years.

Paris Marathon
Ethiopian Deso Gelmisa sprinted down the final stretch of the Paris Marathon on Sunday for the win.
Gelmisa finished in 2:05::07 just 14 seconds off his personal best. Seifu Tura took second in the time of 2:05:10. Morhad Amdouni finished third by setting a new national French record in the time of 2:05.22, improving upon the previous record which was set by Benoit Zwierzchiewski in 2003 by over a minute.
Judith Jeptum won the women’s race and improved upon the course record with her 2:19:48 performance. Jeptum took a commanding lead after the 30K point in the race. The previous Paris course record was owned by Kenyan, Purity Rionoripo, set in 2017 at 2:20:55.
Ethiopians Fantu Jimma and Besu Sado finished second and third respectively.
