Leading the way in the women’s 100-metre hurdles are two familiar names in Phylicia George (13.12) and Nikkita Holder. George and Holder were teammates on the 2012 Olympic Games team. Holder hasn’t raced since taking time off to start a family; her last race was August 26, 2012 in Slovakia at the Memorial Zdenka Hrbacka. Lavonne Idlette of the Dominican Republic should prove to be the leading international competitor for George and Holder.
The women’s 100-metres is led by George (11.55), along with Shai-Anne Davis (11.45), Crystal Emmanuel (11.47) and Kimberley Hyacinthe (11.41). Davis, Emmanuel and Hyacinthe combined to set a new Canadian record in the 4×100-metres at the 2013 World Championships. All four women will represent Canada this summer at the Commonwealth Games. Davis was second last year behind Cleo VanBuren of the United States.
The men’s 100-metres features NCAA standout Andre De Grasse who leads the way with a seasonal best of 10.15 seconds. National team veterans Jared Connaughton
