On December 6, 2024, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in Beijing, China reported an adverse analytical finding in the sample based on the presence of triamcinolone acetonide.
Kiposgei accepted the result but said that he did not know how the triamcinolone got into his system. He did email the AIU to say that he does not go to the hospital, but he goes to a chemist to self-medicate.
The 26-year-old holds a personal best in the marathon of 2:18:28 which he ran in Nairobi in 2023.
Triamcinolone acetonide is a prescription corticosteroid medication that treats skin conditions, mouth sores, and joint conditions. It’s available as a cream, lotion, ointment, spray, or injection.
