Sha’Carri Richardson sprinted to a strong season-opening 100 metre performance Sunday at the LA Grand Prix, clocking a 10.99 second run.
Fellow American Kayla White also ran a season best, finishing in second place, clocking an 11.08 performance. Taking third was Tamari Davis in 11.11. The only non-American in the field was Favour Ofili from Nigeria. She finished fourth in 11.15.
Running in Lane 5, Richardson appeared to get off to a slow start and only began to threaten first place at approximately 7.2 seconds into the race.
Her personal best is 10.65 from the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships, where she won gold.
