The Generali Prague Half Marathon will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Saturday, April 5, 2025. The field is highly competitive and has the potential for record-breaking performances. Among the top contenders are Kenyan runners Isaia Kipkoech Lasoi and Lilian Kasait Rengeruk, both aiming for fast results on Prague’s flat course.

Lasoi

Lasoi, 25, is set to make his RunCzech debut, aiming for victory and a potential race record. He is ranked fourth globally in men’s road running by World Athletics. Lasoi has consistently finished under the one-hour mark in the half marathon for the past three seasons. His personal best of 58:10, during the 2024 Copenhagen edition, was one of the fastest times in the world last year. In Prague, he will challenge the current race record of 58:24, set by Sebastian Sawe in 2024.

Lasoi has shown strong form this season. He finished fourth at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon in 59:26 despite challenging wind conditions. With his speed and consistency, he is expected to be a key contender in Prague.

Rengeruk

In the women’s race, Lilian Kasait Rengeruk leads the elite field. The 27-year-old Kenyan had an impressive 2024 season. She made a strong half-marathon debut in Valencia, where she placed third with a time of 1:03:32. Which is currently the fourth-fastest mark in history. Ranked second in the world in women’s road running, Rengeruk has also excelled on the track, having run under 30 minutes for 10,000 metres. She will be aiming to better the Prague race record of 1:04:52, set by Joyceline Jepkosgei in 2017.

“The Prague Half Marathon course is known for its speed and ideal conditions for fast times,” said Carlo Capalbo, Chairman of the RunCzech Organizing Committee. “We are excited to welcome such talented athletes and look forward to an exciting race.”
