American middle-distance athlete, Jenny Simpson, was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night after collapsing at the Sir Walter Miler in Raleigh, NC. She was pacing an event.
The 39-year-old Olympic bronze medallist stopped breathing and was provided with CPR before being rushed to the hospital.

Simpson is the 2011 Daegu world champion in the 1500 metre event. She also won World Athletics Championship silver medals in the 2013 Moscow and 2017 London championships. Simpson earned a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. She retired from professional running in 2024.
Her personal best is 3:57.22, achieved before the use of super spikes or bicarbonate was commonly used.
Apparently, she is in good hands at the hospital. The organizers of the Sir Walter Miler released a thank you to responders for their attention and professional assistance.
“We are also thankful to everyone who has reached out with concern and support. We ask that you continue to keep Jenny and her family in your prayers as we all hope for the very best.”
