Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh is among the big names who will headline the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 3. The reigning Olympic champion and world record holder is set to take on a world-class field in the women’s high jump.
The 23-year-old comes into the 2025 season after a spectacular year. She won gold at the European Championships in Rome before claiming her first Olympic title in Paris. In between, she soared over a world record of 2.10m at the Paris Diamond League, bettering the 2.09m mark set by Bulgaria’s Stefka Kostadinova at the 1987 World Championships.

Mahuchikh went on to take victory at the Diamond League final in Brussels last September, crowning a stellar season that saw her named female field event athlete of the year at the World Athletics Awards.
A native of Dnipro, Ukraine, she had her breakthrough season in 2019, setting a world U20 record to win silver at the Doha World Championships at the age of just 18. Mahuchikh followed that up with an Olympic bronze medal in 2021, a world indoor title and world outdoor silver medal in 2022 followed by a world outdoor title in 2023.
Yaroslava: “I am super excited for my first Shanghai/Keqia Diamond League! I always loved seeing the beautiful stadiums on TV and the energy the fans have for Track & Field. It’s going be an incredible experience trying to jump as high as I can!”
As the current queen of the women’s high jump, she will be keen to make a strong start to her 2025 outdoor season and put on a show for the fans in Shanghai/Keqiao.
